Event Planning: Turn Your Fear into Fun!

Event planning can be a fearful activity. Here are some tips to turn your fear into fun.

• Plan ahead—Many events fail because of late starts.
• Take care of the small stuff—Do you know where the guests will park?
• Count your costs—Make sure you know all the costs when you establish sponsorship fees and ticket prices. Don't skimp on quality.
• Make sure you have a working committee—People should know what is expected of them and be able to perform.
• Have a realistic assessment of your organization—The less you are known the more value PR and Advertising has.
• Get outside help if you need it.
• Don't expect too much on your first few attempts.
• Decide on goals—Are you trying to raise funds? How much? Are you trying to build awareness? How will you measure progress?
• Collect most of your money before the event—There is no reason to lose money on an event.
• Thank those who helped you succeed—Give them awards, place an ad, put their name in lights!
