Bynums provided the Pirates with advertising, public relations and event marketing services
for approximately eight years.
In the first couple of years of service, we provided consulting for the development of the
"We're Saving You a Seat" campaign. Services included: Theme development, copywriting
and design of brochures, development of a television commercial, and miscellaneous
consulting as needed. Bynums was also a part of the marketing and development of the
Pirates Heritage Club Card.
We then expanded on the Heritage Club concept by developing major community events.
Through these events, we have coordinated appearances/performances by well-known
national guests such as Hank Aaron, CeCe Winans, Therman Evans, and Les Brown; plus
local talent such as Recording Artist Charmaine (Char) McAllister, the Dancing Demons, local
gospel choirs and other talent.
Additional services performed included: Media planning and placement, creative
services, event planning, negotiating contracts with local and national talent, research,
and public relations.
Bynums also assisted the Pirates by developing a strategic partnership with American
Eagle Outfitters.
Outcomes: Through the initiatives inplemented by Bynums, the Pittsburgh Pirates has made the Heritage Days an annual event and has increased its overall reach in the African American community.
